Xceive and Trident Microsystems Partner to Deliver Copy-Ready Flat Panel TV Reference Design Platform for Mid-Large Screen TVs
Single board “Aspen” flat panel TV reference design enables mutual customers to massively reduce development time for quality orientated TV products.
Santa Clara, Calif. and Computex, TAIWAN – June 5, 2007 – Xceive Corporation, the market leader in hybrid silicon tuners with proven success in PC, television and the digital home, today announced its furthered partnership with Trident Microsystems to produce a mid- to high-end flat panel TV reference design platform. This “Aspen” reference design combines the superior technology of Xceive’s highly integrated silicon tuner, the XC5000, with Trident’s HD-TV Pro CX and FX digital SOCs that integrate video capture, digital and analog A/V processing and video scaling, color control and drives any WXGA or 1080P panel.
This reference design is key for TV companies and ODMs wishing to have a complete copy-ready design for medium to large screen televisions such as LCDs, PDPs and RPTV’s from 26 inches and larger. This unique partner-produced reference platform brings together Xceive’s XC5000 silicon TV tuner, that exceeds worldwide analog and digital TV requirements, and Trident’s world class imaging processing capabilities for terrestrial and cable reception, in an optimized solution for the television market.
With the inclusion of the XC5000 chip, the designer gains access to a myriad of important television technology TV tuner advances and the resulting benefits:
• Better signal reception than premium can tuners: Better SNR, NF, AGC range, selectivity and reliability
• Counteracts VSB challenges: Any TV using the XC5000 is capable of up to 100% more coverage area of reception versus many premium can tuners
• Meets and exceeds industry standards:A/74, Nordig 1.0.2 & OpenCable
• Lower BOM: The industries most integrated silicon tuner solution to include all SAW filters and video and sound IF providing for a high quality output
• Small form factor: Allows for additional board size reduction and therefore cost savings
• QuickTune: Ultra fast channel change
• ChannelVista: Virtual tuner like capability – Picture-In-Picture for free or a visual favorite channel list
Major advantages to the ODMs are furthered due to the HiDTV Pro CX/FX solution, including:
• highest quality 1080P resolution and 10b per color processing,
• targeted specifically for top tier designs, and
• already adopted in the marketplace by other major players.
“The Aspen reference design provides customers with unique benefits and increased product differentiation with the combination of Trident’s innovative technology and Xceive’s unsurpassed performance, channel scanning speed and improved digital and analog reception capabilities, particularly with challenging ATSC VSB in the US market,” said Jack Yuan, vice president, marketing at Trident. “We will continue to work with Xceive to provide additional benefits to our mutual customers that only the combination of these two products at the system level can unleash.”
“Xceive and Trident are aligned in our missions to provide TV manufacturers with the very best television design capabilities in order to unleash new levels of TV capabilities to our mutual customers,” said Neil Mitchell, Vice President of Marketing, Xceive Corporation.
